Liberty Group has won a contract worth half a million pounds per annum, to provide planned repairs and maintenance services to Wrexham County Borough Council. The contract will run for two years.
Liberty Group, which specialises in repairs and maintenance, gas services and construction projects across the country, will undertake day to day repairs and some larger repairs for the landlord.
Services provided by the firm, from its nearby base in Ellesmere Port, will include fencing, concreting, paths, roofing, kitchens and large-scale plastering for the local authority which owns over 11,000 homes.
10 staff will be working on the contract including one apprentice. The contract will also provide benefits to the community, with more than £1200 being set aside by Wrexham CBC and Liberty each year to be invested in a range of community projects.
These are set to include refurbishing the club house for Pen-y-cae Football Club and building an outdoor classroom for Tanyfron School.
Derek Corbishley, Managing Director of Liberty Group, said: “This new partnership with Wrexham County Borough Council strengthens our presence in North Wales. The team are looking forward to providing a first-class repairs service for the local authority as the contract kicks off this week.
“We are committed to reinvesting profits to help communities thrive. So we are delighted to be able to do just that through this new contract with the council which will see us invest in schools, football clubs and community centres at the heart of Wrexham’s communities.”
Cllr David Griffiths, Lead Member for Housing with Wrexham Council, said: “This is excellent news for our tenants as Liberty will bring their expertise to ensure high quality work is undertaken in their homes.
“It is also very important that we make the most of all our contracts by ensuring our communities benefit and I am pleased to see that Liberty will see this happens in Wrexham.”
