Staff from four Liberty Group offices together climbed Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales, on 24th June 2017 – raising £5,879 for Cancer Research UK, the company’s nominated charity for FY17/18.
Neil Penter, National Service Manager at Liberty Group, who organised the trek, said “When Liberty decided on Cancer Research UK as its charity of the year, it gave me chance to fund raise for a charity that's close to our hearts here at Liberty.
In the first quarter of this year, Liberty Group has raised £6,620 for the charity, with some sponsorship still to collect, surpassing its initial £1,000 target.
Neil continued: “It has been 20 years since my mum lost her fight for against cancer, and I was looking for a way to raise money and awareness for the fight against cancer.”
Hayley Bridge, Customer Liaison Officer at Liberty said “I originally signed up for Snowdon to motivate my Nan through her treatment for cancer. She got the all clear last week which motivated me even more to climb it. She goes for her last chemotherapy session today totally inspired by what we accomplished this weekend.”
