Today’s Gas Safety Week theme is tackling illegal gas work.
One of our key priorities this Gas Safety Week is helping raise awareness of the risks posed by illegal gas fitters.
All Liberty operatives are Gas Safe registered and we have a 100% gas safety compliance rating.
However, over one million jobs are carried out each year in the UK by cowboy gas fitters working illegally, according to Gas Safe Register.
They are putting people’s lives at risk by exposing them to carbon monoxide poisoning, gas leaks and fires.
This throws the spotlight on the need for engineers to hold the proper training and qualifications to carry out gas work.
ACS accreditation is compulsory for all gas engineers in the industry and it is illegal for gas engineers to practice without it.
We set up our national training and apprenticeships centre, the Liberate Academy, earlier this year. It includes an Accredited Certification Scheme (ACS) testing centre, helping operatives ensure they have the essential qualifications needed to carry out gas work.
We are really proud of the centre which has been given the Blueflame Certification stamp of approval by this UKAS Accredited Certification Body.
Richard Payne of Blueflame Certification, said: “It is without doubt one of the best centres in the North West and will bring lots of benefits to the industry.”
Our academy is here to make it easy for engineers to access the essential ACS accreditation, whether they are renewing it or taking it for the first time.
As part of our pledge to Gas Safety Week we’re calling on everyone to help tackle dodgy gas fitters by always checking their operative’s Gas Safe ID when they come to the door.
