How Liberty has prepared for GDPR
Liberty Group takes its obligations under the Data Protection Act 1998 very seriously and has been preparing for the forthcoming General Data Protection Regulations and Data Protection Act 2018.
This has included a data mapping exercise so we are aware of our processing activities and the basis for which we hold information. The nature of our business means that we are data processors for our clients. We only handle data as stipulated in our contracts.
As part of clients' obligations as data controllers, we have welcomed discussions and requests around any updated data protection clauses and obligations, as we rely on such instructions to handle data as needed.
In addition we have reviewed our privacy notices and data protection policies and processes to ensure they are compliant for the new laws.
ICT plays a vital role in the protection of data and we ensure all data is held with appropriate protection in place with continued investment in our ICT systems. We regularly test and review our systems to ensure that they remain effective and that they support us to meet individual’s rights under data protection legislation.
Within the organisation we have a dedicated Data Protection Officer who monitors and ensures ongoing compliance with regulations. If clients would like to discuss any aspects of data and security, please contact the data protection officer at firstname.lastname@example.org.
