Apprentices flourish with placements at Liberty

Two apprentices in the North West are thriving in their placements thanks to the development and training opportunities available at Liberty.

James, from Ellesmere Port, joined the business in August 2019 to start his NVQ Level 2 plumbing course which he completed last year. To further his career development, he has since started his NVQ Level 3.

Tyler, from Wrexham, is currently completing his NVQ Level 2 in joinery and has spent time working for Liberty’s clients across the Ellesmere Port and Wrexham areas.

Both recently met with Bryan Tennant, Regional Director for Repairs, Maintenance and Construction in the North West, to hear about his experience as an apprentice and to discuss how they were getting on with their apprenticeships at Liberty.

Following the meeting, James said: “Liberty has been really supportive in developing my skills to become a full-time plumber and I have taken the opportunity with open arms. It was hard at the start, but I got stuck in straight away and I have got used working with the tools and communicating with tenants.”

Tyler said: “I’ve learned a lot in Ellesmere Port from hanging doors to plumbing then I went onto Wrexham to work on my joinery completing first-time fixes for tenants. I’ve also expanded on skills outside of joinery including lock fixing.

“I think apprenticeships are a great opportunity to get into the construction industry and to get on the job ladder and become successful.”

Brian said: “It was great catching up with James and Tyler to talk about my experience as an apprentice. Both are progressing really well and had plenty of questions for me.

“They are embracing their apprenticeships and were keen to discuss further development when they are qualified and that’s what apprenticeships are all about.”

Liberty is a proud member of a The 5% Club, meaning the business ensures more than 5% of its workforce is made up of apprentices.
